Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (IATA: HYD, ICAO: VOHS), also known as Hyderabad International Airport, is an international airport serving the metropolis of Hyderabad located at Shamshabad, about 22 km (14 mi) south of Hyderabad.

It is named after former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. It replaced the former international airport at Begumpet and commercial flight operations began on 23 March 2008. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is the second public-private partnership venture after Cochin International Airport. In 2010–11, it was the sixth busiest in India by international and overall passenger traffic.

The airport features as the top among Indian airports in the ranking of world airports for the year 2013 by Skytrax. It serves as a hub for SpiceJet, Lufthansa Cargo and Blue Dart Aviation and as a focus city for Air India, Jet Airways, and JetLite.

Services:

Airport Village – An area of the airport where you will find food and beverage concessions. Locals can use the area to wait for their family members and guests. Rate: a fee is required to enter – rs.100 is payable at the Departures Area and rs.20 to enter at the Arrivals Level. Tickets are valid for 1 hour.
ATMs / Cash Machines – Cash machines are available Airside and Landside
Car Rentals – Carzonrent and Akbar Travels offer car rentals at the airport.
Food / Restaurants – At the time of this guide update it was not know which (if any) of the food and beverage concessions were open 24 hours. If you find out, please let me know.

Luggage Storage / Lockers – You can store your baggage at the ‘Left Luggage/ Baggage Storage/Clock Room Facility’ Counters available at the Passenger Service Areas of the Domestic and International Arrivals. Rates: for two hours you can expect to pay INR 60 (small) • INR 90 (medium) • INR 120 (large) for luggage storage. The locker rates are INR 200 – 400 for 4 hours.
Information Desk – There are two Information Desks available: Domestic Departures, “B” Row, Level F and in the Airport Village
Prayer Rooms – There are four prayer rooms located within the airport. Locations: unknown
Showers – Located in all three of the Plaza Premium Lounges listed above in the airport Lounges section.
Smoking: There are smoking lounges available airside. Locations: unknown.
Spas – O2 Spa has two locations in the Domestic Departures (Airside, Gates 22 and 25)
